Texas Construction Contract
Texas law requires very specific disclosures in any Texas construction contract. Every home construction contract and every home repair contract has to include even more notices and disclosures under Texas law. Every remodeling contract requires the same disclosures and notices as home improvement contracts. Commercial contracts don't require as many disclosures under Texas law because the owners of commercial properties are assumed to be more sophisticated and less in need of protection as consumers.
| Property loss contracts (insurance repair contracts) are considered home improvement contracts under Texas law because the agreement is between the home owner and the contractor, not the insurance carrier. Still, most insurance companies will not authorize a contractor to proceed with casualty loss repair work in Texas with anything less than a legal Texas residential contract. |
